Dr. Don Williams (Pictured above holding Roscoe the Hasting`s farm dog)
Earl’s Trail, is a proposed path, providing a safe route between Browning Harbour and the
Driftwood Centre. Presently this walk is a formidable challenge to boaters laden with groceries
and gas cans. As well, part of this proposed path is included in the Magic Lake/Ferry roadway
targeted by MAP (Moving Around Pender) as a prioiry to facilitate safe walking and biking
around Pender Island.
The project would requite rebuilding a perimeter cattle fence, clearing brush, and appropriate
surveys. Offers of assistance have come from MAP members, Davey Rae (owner of the
Driftwood Centre), Parks and Recreation, and the Pender Pounders running group. Land owner
Earl Hastings has generously given permission to proceed with the project.
MAP is hoping this pilot project, like the Car Stops initiative, will set the tone of promoting a
better - and safer - community on Pender
